We're back in Ontario

Here we are having brunch somewhere in the States on our way home from Cape Hatteras...

Oh, I miss the beach. We left Hatteras Island very early Sunday morning, Oct 5th, arrived back home just past midnight, Oct 6th. It was a pretty busy week, catching up etc, but then we had a fantastic weekend to look forward to. I decided not to cook a turkey, since it was going to be so nice, weather wise. We had lots of bbq's.

Zoe had 2 cakes ordered this week, a wedding cake and a birthday cake. Her business is really taking off!

The first cake is the wedding cake she did in September, the next one was for a birthday on Saturday, and the last one was for a wedding on Saturday:

Isn't she brilliant...and she's sweet and beautiful too:)

Saturday after all her hard work, she went to Canada's Wonderland for the day with her 2 older brothers, Zac and Gabe. It was the first time they went on Behemoth. I love that roller coaster, and I really would have loved to go to Wonderland, but I stayed with the rest of the family, and we all went apple picking somewhere west of Collingwood. It was exciting, but not quite as exciting as heading head first down a 70 metre drop at 125 km/hr at a 75 degree angle! 1620.0 metres of ride! Wow! I could go on that roller coaster over and over again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8KfQG82NSk Shayne, Jonathan, Nekoda and I went to Wonderland earlier in the summer, what a blast! I guess my second favorite ride is "Flight Deck" formerly known as Top Gun, then next, probably "The Great Canadian Mine Buster"

Apple picking day:

Sunday our family went to Big Chute, a marine railway. http://www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/on/trentsevern/visit/lock44_e.asp It was another warm and sunny day. The railway takes boats from the Trent Severn to Georgian Bay, lifting them out of the water and over the road. It's really quite cool. Later we had a picnic at Six Mile Beach, and we actually had a bit of a swim. The water was really cold, but the air was nice and hot. Today we met up with friends at Springwater Provincial Park, the kids played in the playground and played frisbee, and we all chatted. Tomorrow is back to school, but it's a nice short week! 4 days, then it's the weekend again.

and here's PJ, known as Lightening McQueen, looking very cool...

Buxton and Frisco

We’ve had some fantastic beach days this week. So many in fact, I missed several days of posting here. Too much fun at the beach, well you can never have too much beach though, can you? Most days we headed to Frisco, which is a south facing beach, but yesterday (Thursday) it was a bit cooler, a great day for a walk on the beach. Buxton is where Hatteras Light is. We walked way out to the point. Here’s a map of Cape Hatteras. See the little tail at the very bottom before the island bends, where it says Cape Hatteras…that’s where we walked to.cape hatteras map

There were a lot of off road vehicles there, and many people fishing.

Just had to include a picture of the Food Lion. This is the big grocery store where we get all the yummy ice cream, and specials if you have their MVP card;) They don't sell Tim Tams in America

Happy 9th Birthday Bronwyn!!

Well, today, October 3rd, is Bronwyn’s birthday, and I can’t think of a better place to have a birthday. We packed a lunch and headed to Frisco Beach, where we stayed till after 5, then came back to the cottage for supper and birthday cake and ice cream.

Sadly, tomorrow is our last day at the beach. This vacation went by too quickly. I don’t think I’m ready for the long cold winter. Well, I think we are going to Frisco Beach again, and I’m planning on going out to the sand bar with the kids. I want to savour every moment tomorrow. I love Cape Hatteras, I love the beach. It’s been a wonderful family time here.

In the States, people say 'Smarties' are:

a) Canadians

b) sour candies

c) yummy little colourful chocolates

can you guess?
